The adult education ministry in any church is difficult because of the wide range in age, life experience and spiritual maturity of the audience.  Regardless, there are three main reasons we offer adult education programs here at NSCBC.

First, we believe it is our responsibility to reach and teach those who need to hear the message of salvation and to assist the saints in their continued growth in the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. You would be hard pressed to find a replacement to the adult education ministries of the church.

A second reason is the belief that we learn better when we learn with others. As travelers in a foreign land, we journey on the road of faith together, struggling in a place that is not our home and cannot provide the true satisfaction we seek. But we are not alone.

The third reason is our belief that all of our adults are called to be models for our children to see the working out of salvation in our lives, and even more specifically, that parents are a child’s first and most influential teachers. This paradigm is becoming even more the exception in our culture today. More and more parents are leaving the moral and intellectual training of their children to the “professionals.” We must hold back the tide of this movement within our families.

Ultimately, we encourage all adults who come to our church to become life-long learners. While the elementary tenents of our faith are quickly mastered, there is still tremendous value in regularly attending one of our classes. In addition to the information learned, there is an important relational aspect gained in being involved. Furthermore, we remind ourselves and those around us (our friends and children) that we have not 'arrived'.
